The Founding of C.S. Weijers
Our roots go back to the 1920s. During this time, C.S. (Cees) Weijers began cultivating Dahlias in addition to his day job. His passion quickly took off, and in 1926 he established his own company under the name C.S. Weijers “Kwekerij en Eureka.”

Business Development
While the primary activity was still growing and breeding Dahlias, the company soon expanded into trading Dahlias and other special bulbs and tuber crops—then referred to as “bijgoed.” The business grew rapidly, and three of Cees’s sons joined the company. This led to the name being changed to C.S. Weijers & Zonen N.V.
By the late 1960s, the company shifted focus more heavily toward trading in unique bulb and tuber varieties. As a result, in-house cultivation became less central. The company developed into a full-fledged trading house, soon becoming known as the go-to supplier for many export businesses in the Dutch flower bulb region.

Acquistion by Jan Boot
Under new ownership by J.P.W. (Jan) Boot in 1982, the company entered a phase of rapid growth. Trade volumes increased significantly, and major investments were made in new facilities to modernize the business. By 2019, C.S. Weijers Bloembollen (as it is now known) was operating from a modern complex with office space and production halls spanning approximately 15,000 m².

The Next Generation
In 2007, the next generation took the reins when J.J.H. (John) Boot became owner of the company. Under his leadership, the company continued to expand and now forms part of the CSW Group, which also includes Tuberbulb Export BV, CSW Landscaping BV, and QFB Gardening BV. These four companies complement each other perfectly, offering integrated solutions for various market demands.

Visit from Prime Minister Mark Rutte
In November 2013, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte paid a working visit to the flower bulb region. As part of his tour, he visited the flower bulb trading company C.S. Weijers & Zonen B.V. in Hillegom—an honor and a proud moment in our company's history.
