Flower Science Café at C.S. Weijers flower bulbs
Member of the European Parliament Jan Huitema was a guest at the Flower Science Café on 30 November 2017. The café was organised by John Boot of C.S. Weijers in Hillegom. The meeting started with a tour of the innovative trading house that now carries four product lines. Inspired, Jan Huitema, himself a dairy farmer in Friesland, then took the floor. He told the audience how Europe works exactly, what results he has managed to achieve and why it sometimes doesn't work. Jan spoke with praise about the innovations in the Dutch agricultural sector and how the world would look a lot worse if this sector did not develop so rapidly in our country. The audience was impressed by the knowledge that Jan displayed. He was able to provide expert answers to questions from the audience. The mayor of Hillegom, Arie van Erk, introduced and concluded the afternoon. A report of the café can be seen in the BO report.
